NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS CALLING FOR BIDS

Notice is hereby given that bids will be received by Frank Schipper Construction Co. via email (arlan@schipperconstruction.com) or via fax (805) 963-1270 no later than:

Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 4:00pm for UCSB Trace Metals Clean Rooms

The project description is as follows:

Construction of a +/- 1,040sf new ISO certified cleanroom laboratory suite for the Department of Earth Science that will be housed on the 2nd floor of an existing building on the University campus.

Projected project budget is $3,000,000.

Projected start date is July 2018

Projected project duration is estimated at 7 months.

Pursuant to the provision of Section 1773 and 1773.2 of the Labor Code of the State of California, the District has obtained from the Director of Industrial Relations, the general prevailing rate of per diem wages and the general prevailing rate for holiday and overtime work is the locality in which the work is to be performed for each craft, classification or type of workman needed to execute the contract. It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom the contract is awarded, to pay not less that the said specified rates to all workmen employed by them in the execution of the contract, and to comply with the prevailing wage requirement set forth in the Labor Code.

SKILLED AND TRAINED WORKFORCE: Subcontractor shall comply with Education Code Section 17407.5, which requires Subcontractor and its subcontractors at every tier to employ a skilled and trained workforce to perform all work on this Project that falls within an apprentice-able occupation in the building construction trades. Subcontractor shall submit Skilled and Trained Workforce Compliance Report with Progress Billings each month. Billings will not be accepted without the Reports. Skilled and Trained Workforce Requirements are for Prime Subcontractors only (1/2 of 1% of Total Contract.)

Pursuant to the provisions in Section 1711.1 of the Labor Code of the State of California, a contractor shall not be qualified to bid or engage in the performance of any contract for this project unless; (1) currently registered and qualified to perform public work pursuant to Section 1725.5; or (2) expressly is authorized to submit a bid by Section 1771.1 and provided the contractor is registered to perform public work pursuant to section 1725.5 at the time the contract is awarded.

This project is subject to the compliance monitoring and enforcement by the Department of Industrial Relations.
